Identifying a Network for a Circular Carbon Economy in Austria

INHALT

The aim of this thesis is to identify and analyse a network in Austria that connects CO2 emitting industries with companies that are able to use CO2 as a resource, thus contributing to the development of a circular carbon economy. Based on a systematic literature review, the research will examine existing carbon flows, technological advances and opportunities for industrial symbiosis to map a value chain that facilitates the transformation of carbon emissions into valuable resources.
A key component of this study is the investigation through a structured survey and/or expert interviews with key stakeholders. The research will focus on

- Identifying key CO2 emitting industries in Austria and their current carbon management practices.

- Mapping industries and companies that can use captured CO2 as a resource.

- Assess the operational and strategic challenges companies face in integrating circular carbon strategies.

- To explore potential business models and collaboration opportunities to establish a functioning Circular Carbon Economy network.

By analysing the collected data, the thesis will provide a comprehensive overview of Austria's potential for establishing a Circular Carbon Economy, identifying key enablers, barriers and strategic recommendations.
