Sustainable Finance and Green Finance refer to financial activities, investments, and decision-making processes that explicitly consider environmental, social, and governance (ESG) criteria alongside traditional financial metrics.
The literature often discusses:
- ESG investing and impact investing
- Green bonds, climate bonds, and sustainable financial instruments
- Risk assessment models incorporating climate and sustainability risks
- Regulatory frameworks (e.g., EU Taxonomy, SFDR) shaping financial markets. |

AUFGABENSTELLUNG
A Systematic Literature Review (SLR) is a scientific method to collect, evaluate, and synthesize existing academic knowledge on a specific topic. Following a transparent and structured process (using search terms in e.g. Scopus, Web of Sciene, etc), it allows researchers to comprehensively map current research, identify trends, and uncover gaps in the literature.
For this thesis, the student will apply a clear search strategy, defined inclusion criteria, and quality assessments to ensure a rigorous and reproducible review of relevant studies.
The student will systematically search and review academic research to answer:
- How is sustainability integrated into investment decisions, banking, and financial markets?
- What financial instruments and strategies are used to promote sustainable development?
- How do regulations and frameworks influence sustainable / green finance practices?
- What challenges, risks, or trade-offs are discussed in the literature?
- Where are knowledge gaps and opportunities for future research? |
